Termination of pregnancy (abortion)

Finding yourself with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy is a huge challenge for all women. If you decide the right decision for you is not to go ahead with the pregnancy, then you simply need to call BPAS on 03457 30 40 30 to book an appointment.

This services is provided free of charge and you do not need to pay - the service is funded by the NHS, but provided by British Pregnancy Advisory Service.

There are two forms of termination available:

  • medical termination (EMA) and involves taking a pill or inserting a pessary into the vagina and is available up to 9 weeks in to pregnancy
  • a short operation (called surgical termination, TOP or STOP) that is normally carried out as a day-case procedure at the hospital and will take a day or two to recover from.

It is absolutely essential that you also organise some follow-on contraception to avoid a repetition and we are very happy to help you with this. Just call us!
